In the right season.

in-between. that’s probably the best way to describe the last year of our lives. at first we were engaged, which is a great season, but an in-between season none the less. and then we were married. and it was great, but soon after, we decided that we were moving to india. which catapulted us directly into one of the hardest, yet sweetest seasons of our lives thus far. we’re just in between. we’re married, but don’t quite feel like real adults yet. we’re both managing retail. i’m only semi-using my degree. preston’s just trying to graduate. and our hearts are both longing for something else, but knowing that the Lord has called us to now. he’s called us to love well where we are. he’s called us to pour out here. to open up our home however we can. to give and to love freely.

and at the end of the day, we know that we are thankful for this season. this season of hardship and feeling like we’re under attack. a season of knowing what & when the next step is, but having to wait. we’re thankful for the season of waiting. we’re thankful for the amazing sense of community we have here. we’re thankful for all of these things that have started to shape the story of us. the hard times draw us to each other and draw us closer to the Lord. and they teach us to be content, no matter what the circumstances. and to cherish the time that we have with our friends & family, because we know that in six months, that’ll be few & far in between.

so we are thankful. and we are learning. and we are eagerly waiting in expectancy that our God will do more than we ever asked or imagined.

and as i’ve learned to love this in-between season, i’ve rested on these powerful lyrics from Will Reagan & the United Pursuit Band:

“I lean not on my own understanding,

my life is in the hands of the maker of heaven.

I give it all to you, trusting that you’ll make something beautiful out of me.

There’s nothing I hold on to.

I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open.”
